Places: Maison Ladurée

As they recently launched in NYC, Maison Ladurée macarons aren’t particularly new to me, but I’m glad because they’re delicious. The more, the better. Recently, I visited Ladurée on the Champs-Élysées, a tourist-y but beautiful area. Gilded mint, the Ladurée building looks just like a giant box of their famous macarons. Upon entering, you step into a sea of tourists clamoring for different flavors and attempting to speak French. Don’t worry about not speaking the language here, however, because the Champs-Élysées acts as a cultural hub, mixing together countless visitors to Paris. I did, however, test my beginning French on one Parisian couple who directed me to local recommendations, also offering me a piece of their king cake. Even with a language barrier, it looks like desserts are universal :).
My favorite Ladurée flavors, by the way, are raspberry, lemon, and blackcurrant, but you honestly can’t go wrong.
